Stress can be viewed as anything we experience that results in difficulty coping. Externals such as our job, noise and other environmental factors can cause stress. It can also be caused by internal factors such as extremes of emotion, illness pain and worry.  Stress can sometimes challenge our ability to continue functioning normally and productively. Signs that stress has become too much to ignore or handle alone include:

  • extreme fatigue

  • argumentativeness

  • increased alcohol and/or drug use

  • apathy

  • loss of pleasure in life

  • general feelings of emptiness and futility
