How to Find Drug and Alcohol Treatment

In selecting treatment for alcohol or drug rehabilitation there are several levels
of care available. These care levels would be determined by the severity of the
problem and the treatment needs of the client. In the Greater Cincinnati Area there are some excellent resources available.


Hospital Programs

These programs require a stay in a hospital facility and provide medical care for physical problems that may accompany prolonged use of alcohol or drugs such as withdrawal.

Residential or Halfway House Programs

These programs are available on a long-term, live-in basis and provide around the clock structure and supervision. Family participation is generally encouraged and residents are usually are required to spend part of their time working during the later stages of their stay.

Outpatient Counseling

This type of treatment is provided without need for hospital or residential placement. It is provided on an intensive outpatient basis that involves attending 2-3 groups per week accompanied by individual counseling. These groups may be as long as three hours in duration. It also may be addressed on a non-intensive outpatient level that typically involves attendance at a weekly group of 1 ½ -2 hours in duration
and one individual session held weekly.

In addition a variety of support groups are available for the problems concerning alcohol, drugs as well as for codependence and family related issues. Any of the programs listed would be helpful in assisting you to find a support group to address your concern.
